Fáilte and welcome to the ‘Irish Australian Song Library’

The ‘Irish Australian Song Library’ features lyrics, music and song notes of notable Irish Australian songs. The aim is to provide a home for Irish Australian songs which can be a resource to musicians, students and fans of Irish culture.

What is the definition of an Irish Australian song? The song must have a connection between Ireland and Australia. It may have Irish roots but was made popular in Australia (‘The Wild Colonial Boy’). It may have been written in Australia but be about Ireland (‘Fight Micky Fight’) or it may be an Irish song that is regularly played at sessions in Australia (‘Geese in the bog’).

The site is based on a user generated model with users able to add songs and build the archive over time. So feel free to add to the collection.

The site is hosted by the Irish National Association in Sydney and was made possible by the support of the Irish Consulate as part of the 1916 Easter Rising Commemoration program.

We hope you enjoy the tunes and play them good and loud!
